Bled is a small resort town on the shore of an alpine lake, with a baroque church on Slovenia's only natural island and a medieval castle on a cliff high above the water.
Walk the six-kilometre path around the lake, row out on a traditional pletna boat to ring the island's wishing bell, and climb to the Ojstrica and Osojnica viewpoints for the famous view. The Julian Alps and Triglav National Park begin right behind it.
It's crowded and pricey in high summer, and quietly magical when the leaves turn or snow settles on the castle.
Eat kremšnita, Bled's cream cake of vanilla custard between layers of pastry, and trout from the alpine rivers.
Round trip from Prague, any dates in November 2026.

Slovenia's largest lake, wilder and quieter than Bled, deep in Triglav National Park: the Savica waterfall at one end and a cable car up Vogel for the view of Triglav.
