About Seville

Seville is the capital of Andalusia, a southern city of whitewashed lanes, orange trees and tiled courtyards on the Guadalquivir river.

Its old heart holds the Real Alcázar, a palace of Moorish arches and gardens, and one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world, crowned by the Giralda, its former minaret. Across the river, Triana is where flamenco and the city's painted tiles come from.

It is at its best in spring, with the Holy Week processions and the April Fair, and fiercely hot in July and August.

Eat tapas standing at the bar: salmorejo, spinach with chickpeas, fried fish, and a glass of chilled manzanilla.
