About Edinburgh

Edinburgh is built for atmosphere-a black volcanic crag topped with a castle, a medieval Old Town of narrow closes, and a haar that rolls in on cue.

The Royal Mile drops from the castle to the palace past spires and ghost-tour touts, while the elegant Georgian New Town spreads out below. Climb the green hump of Arthur's Seat for the whole city laid out between the hills and the firth.

It's literary and a little gothic, the home of festivals and a thousand stories, dignified even in the rain.

Eat haggis with neeps and tatties and warm up with a single malt.
