Athens spreads white and low to the horizon, and above all of it the Acropolis floats on its rock, lit gold after dark.
The ancient stones are everywhere-an agora here, a temple there-wrapped in a loud, chaotic, graffiti-sprayed modern city. Neighbourhoods like Plaka and Psyrri buzz with tavernas, rooftop bars and cats, and the energy never lets up.
When the heat and the noise get too much, the tram runs straight down to the beaches of the Athens Riviera.
Eat souvlaki and a spread of meze, and nurse a slow frappé in the shade like a local.
Round trip from Prague, any dates in October 2026.
